Automated Shakers
Analyses that require shaking benefit from automated sample handling. Automated shaking of samples eliminates the manual transfer of samples to a separate shaking machine. Shaker racks can be mounted on MT Series autosamplers, for tests like neutralization potential, soil pH and conductivity (EC), and acid rock drainage (ARD). Shakers can also be used for sample splitting, automatically shaking racks prepared from parent bottles. Mantech can mount multiple shakers to meet specified throughput requirements. With fixed position control, the shaker keeps tubes correctly aligned after shaking, so the autosampler can perform sample splitting or analysis accurately.
Mantech Pro Software fully integrates shaker racks and provides a user-friendly, customizable interface. The software automatically controls shaker operation during the run. Meanwhile, users adjust and control the speed and duration of the shaking. Depending on the method, the system either continues analysis after the shaking period, or ends the run with an automatically generated report. Built for Windows 11, Mantech Pro Software even allows users to perform actions while the system is running. For example, shaker racks play a key role in soil analysis. Mantech’s IntelliRinse technology also ensures probes are rinsed clean before moving to the next sample. Users can set cleaning criteria in the software. After the final sample is analyzed, the shaker turns on. Users can also program QC checks from dedicated spots in the calibration station at the beginning, end, and at set intervals throughout the run. Furthermore, automated shakers can be used to mix tubes that do not have room for a stirrer inside them. Using the software, analysts are in direct control of the shaking speed for optimal results. The automated heaters and shakers for the MT series allow laboratories to streamline their workflows by improving accuracy and free up analysts’ time. With full software control labs can customize heating or shaking processes to meet specific method requirements. By adopting these automated capacities, laboratories can gain efficiency without compromising precision.

Mounted Shakers
Analysts no longer need to interrupt the automated procedure to place samples on a separate machine for shaking.
Mantech offers sytems with shaker racks. The speed and duration of shaking can all be controlled from the software.

“We have purchased a Mantech system to automate our suite of pH, Conductivity and Turbidity analysis. From industry feedback we knew that this suite is notoriously difficult to automate and the Mantech system presented a new and viable solution to the problem.”
A. Rodrigues, Affinity Water
“MANTECH instruments used by ALS have proven to be robust analytical solutions, generating accurate and precise reults with a low per sample operating cost.”
Tim Kilmister, ALS Life Sciences
“The MANTECH PC-Titrates (MT100) are robust. With minimal maintenance, each system has been in continuous operation for 13 and 10 years each, analysing pH, Conductivity, Alkalinity and Fluoride per sample”
Keith, Inorganics Supervisor, Saskatchewan Research Council
“I worked with three multi-parameter systems running applications such as pH, Conductivity and Alkalinity. It was wonderful being able to set up my run and then move on to other tasks around the lab. One of the systems often ran for ten hours straight (approximately 750 samples). The Mantech systems were easy to use and very durable. ”
Holly, Ontario Laboratory Analyst
“The precision was superior on the PC-Titrate system as was the multi-valve cleaning system, which included more titrants and purging of titrant lines. In conclusion the PC-Titrate system met our needs most closely and was the best long-term choice for our solutions analysis.”

FAQ’s
What is the minimum total liquid volume that can be measured for pH, conductivity and alkalinity with the MT Systems?
When using 50mL sample tubes, the minimum total volume can be as small as 6 ml using the TitraPro4 pH electrode and the Mantech 5mm conductivity probe. This is due to the lower immersion depth of these electrodes and precise autosampler coordinate specifications. When using 125mL sample cups, the minimum total volume can be as small as 15mL.
What are the benefits of IntelliRinse?
IntelliRinse™ is beneficial because it uses real-time measurement to provide confirmation that your probes are 100% clean, eliminating chances of cross-contamination.
Active IntelliRinse™ systems allows users to set user-defined values (e.g. rinse to a specific conductivity value) or to adjust the rinse intensity based on previous sample concentrations before moving to the next sample. This is beneficial as it improves the rinsing of probes/electrodes to ensure that cross-contamination does not occur even with particularly dirty or high-strength samples. There is also the option to have the final value measured during rinsing shown in a column on the results report, for a visual confirmation directly with sample results.
What are the dimensions and space requirements for Mantech systems?
The measurements listed below are based on standard MT-Series systems. Measurements and pictures include the Mantech System Organizer (MSO), where applicable. System controllers and computer monitors are not included in the dimensions described below.
AM400 Only Configuration (No MSO):
AutoMax401 – Width: 62cm, Depth: 74cm, Height: 76cm
AutoMax402 – Width: 92cm, Depth: 74cm, Height: 76cm
AutoMax403 – Width: 122cm, Depth: 74cm, Height: 76cm
AutoMax404 – Width: 152cm, Depth: 74 cm, Height: 76cm
AutoMax405 – Width: 182cm, Depth: 74cm, Height: 76cm
How do Mantech systems measure and record temperature?
The standard method for measuring temperature is with a USB-connected stainless steel thermistor probe. The specifications for this probe are below:
- Communication: USB controlled by Mantech Pro Software
- Sheath Material: Super OMEGACLAD XL/ Stainless Steel/Inconel
- Temp Range: 0 to 1038 Degree C.
- Diameter: 0.062in
- Length: 6 inch
- Measurement to 3 decimal places
- Autocalibration feature in Mantech Pro software
Alternatively, when measuring conductivity, one can measure the temperature directly from the conductivity probe. This temperature is also displayed directly on the conductivity meter screen.
Mantech has the ability to use either of these measurement methods for pH temperature compensation, depending on customer preference and system configuration.
Mantech temperature sensors are available in both PT1000 and 10kNTC styles. PT1000 sensors have a linear positive-slope relationship between resistance and temperature with a resistance of 1000 ohms at 0°C, and 10kNTC sensors have a curved negative-slope relationship between resistance and temperature with a resistance of 10,000 ohms at 25°C. Both these models of temperature sensor perform well and comparably within the 0-100°C temperature range that liquid samples exist in. If you require a specific type of temperature sensor, please feel free to let Mantech know and we will accommodate.
