The Vapodest 50s is a programmable system for the automatic rapid steam distillation for a wide variety of analyses. Typical distillations and titrations range from 3 - 5 minutes. Principally designed for Kjeldahl, Ammonia, Nitrogen and Nitrate determination these systems distil the sample or sample digest and back titrate to an endpoint before calculating the result.
The
Vapodest 50s can accommodate a wide variety of Gerhardt distillation tube sizes including 100ml, 250ml, 400ml, 800ml straight-sided tubes and 250ml, 500ml and 750ml round bottomed flasks. Tubes from some other manufacturers will also fit directly onto the Vapodest 50s.
The Vapodest 50s has a time controlled reagent addition pump, which can be calibrated to dispense more accurate volumes. A water addition pump for sample dilution before distillation and the ability to remove the sample residue from the distillation flask at the end of the analysis are also included.
Distillation time can be set from seconds to 99 minutes 59 seconds, however with 125ml distillate being produced in about 4 minutes at 100% power typically only a few minutes are required. Steam power can be varied between 40 – 100% with automatic switch off at programme end allowing unattended operation. At the end of the programme, Boric acid is dispensed into the receiver vessel in preparation for the next sample.
A clear protective door allows a visual check of the system in operation, whilst a door safety switch prevents any contact with the steam during operation. Water is only used when the Vapodest is in operation and the pressure is monitored in case of water failure. The system cannot be run without a tube in position ensuring no accidental steam release. Errors are displayed clearly in a two line LED display.
The system is managed by software programme, Vapodest Manager, allowing multiple programmes to be stored for greater flexibility, as well as data storage and management. For even greater flexibility the Vapodest 50s can accommodate an automatic sample loading carousel holding up to 20-tubes for unmanned operation.
