Kjeldatherm Digestion

Designed to make the most efficient use of space available Kjeldatherm Digestion Systems simultaneously digest multiple samples. Energy efficient heating and insulation ensure heat is generated in the right areas and kept away from the user. Tubes are held in an enclosed insert rack, which creates a ‘hot-box’ environment and cooling condensing section for efficient digestion. 100ml, 250ml and 400ml tubes can be digested in different multiples on the Aluminium hotblocks. 100ml tubes can be digested in multiples of 12 or 40. 250ml tubes can be digested in multiples of 8 or 20. 400ml tubes can be digested in multiples of 8 or 20.

All systems are supplied with an exhaust manifold, isoversinic tubing and a water jet pump for fume scrubbing / extraction. If a more vigorous fume scrubbing system is required the Turbosog is available. All tubes and manifolds are supported and stored on a two-tier console above the hotblock. This saves further space for storage whilst cooling or when not in use. Lift systems are available for automatic insertion and removal of the insert rack and manifold on to and off the hotblock.

Accurate temperature control from ambient up to 430°C means the temperature required for Kjeldahl analysis is more than adequately covered. In Kjeldahl analysis heating beyond 420°C is wasteful of energy and does not speed up the digestion. For best results 400°C should be used +/- 20°C. Two controllers are available; TR is a simple temperature controller, TZ is a time temperature controller. Both controllers are independent of the Kjeldatherm digestion block and can be removed from the corrosive acidic environment to prolong their working life.
