Acid Hydolysis Analysis

Acid hydrolysis followed by Soxhlet for total fat extraction, for the measurement of total fat in food and feed, fat bound to protein must be liberated. In order to do this the food or feed sample is boiled with strong Hydrochloric acid in order to digest the protein and to free the bound lipids.

After filtration and drying the fat is then extracted usually using petroleum ether in a Soxhlet apparatus or rapidly in the Soxtherm. We supply a traditional system for boiling the Hydrochloric acid in beakers on a hotplate. The hydrolysis system is supplied with a 4 or 6-place hotplate, beakers, condensers, filter funnels and funnel support stand.
